An entrepreneurs dream is to create a business out of something they are passionate about. For a lot of businesses, the first step are at markets.
Here are some tips on how to make your business stand out.
It’s not only the potential customers you are trying to impress. Buyers from retail outlets and brands attend these markets looking for new ideas.
One way to stand out is through custom print. You have probably noticed at most markets; each booth is a white canopy with no graphics. This is an excellent opportunity for you to stand out with a custom printed tent! For a bit extra your canopy can be sublimated to your branding and show more of what you do than just white material.
And why stop there? With flags and a custom table cover, all the other vendors will be envious of the attention you are attracting.
Make sure you use this custom print to tell everyone what you do. Do you sell vegetables? Have your sign say “Fresh Vegetables” in large writing so people know from down the block that’s what you do.
Do you have a selling point? Is your product the best price or the highest quality? Let people know!
Markets are usually crowded places full of people taking everything in as they walk by. Most vendors do not use the space they have to its full potential.
Within your market tent, you can use grid or integrated racks to display your merchandise organized and clear for everyone to see. Place your best selling or prized items dominantly for everyone to look at first glance.
Avoid having your items displayed on a table where people have to look down at them and people walking by can’t see them at all if anyone’s standing in front of your booth.
Some people are looking for bargains; some people are looking for unique pieces or gifts. It is good to have multiple price points in your product lines to satisfy different types of customers.
For example, your specialty might be custom wooden artwork that takes days or weeks to produce each piece and of course has a high cost. It would be a good idea to do some smaller simpler pieces like keychains or earrings at a lower price point for smaller sales.
Customers that buy your smaller products will have your in mind for the future and could return to purchase some of your mid-high range priced products in the future.
Your booth is an excellent opportunity for you to connect with your customers. Displaying your social media accounts on your booth can be better than a website or phone number for retaining and gaining new customers.
Once you get people following your social media accounts, you will need to be active on them for this strategy to be successful. Post new products, how things are made, customer stories, other markets or shows you will be attending. It is an excellent way for small businesses to get some free advertising and stay connected with their customers.
